Curriculum Coordinator Juan Serafica

  The “myWriting Showcase” is designed to reward our students who worked hard on writing throughout this semester.  Each grade selected a specific writing prompt and students were nominated from every class.  Members from the ID office selected works based on their content, creativity, and demonstration of character.  The selected students each received a “myWriting” certificate and have their work showcased here on Hello English. 

  The judging was particularly hard this semester as the nominated students submitted excellent work. There were no repeat winners from last semester to now!

Let me introduce the 112-1 Fall Semester myWriting prompts:

G1 myView:Facts and Details

The students identified main idea & details in informational text.

Grade 2 myView: Making a Cup of Tea

The students practiced sequencing by creating instructions.

Grade 2 Cornerstone: A Friendly Letter

The students wrote a friendly letter to a friend at school.

Grade 3 myView: Instructions

The students taught their readers all about how to make something.

Grade 3 Cornerstone: My Favorite Animal

Students wrote a description of an animal of their choosing.

Grade 4 myView: All About _________

The students tell all about their favorite person at school.

Grade 4 Cornerstone: A Family Celebration

The students share about an important holiday or event.

Grade 5 myView: Poem

Students wrote a 4-stanza poem including figurative language and possibly a rhyming scheme.

Grade 5 Cornerstone: Current Events: Cause & Effect

Students detail the cause & effect relationships of an ongoing natural disaster.

Grade 6 myView & Cornerstone: Science Fiction

Students wrote about a dystopian future in which an environmental issue was not addressed.
