School Activities

Halloween

English Teacher Juan Serafica

Who’s that banging on the door? It’s a zombie! Due to restrictions on gathering this year, students enjoyed Halloween festivities in their classes. Students enjoyed playing Halloween games and enjoying Halloween-themed classroom activities in both FET and CET classes. They were still able to dress up as their favorite characters or costumes. Last year’s most popular costumes were related to the show, “Demon Slayer.” But this year, the most popular costumes for students and teachers were all related to “Squid Game!”
In grades 1-2, students enjoyed the “Bouncy Eyeballs” game and the “Monster Stack” game with cups. They also viewed some scary movies and played Halloween-themed games on the smartboard. In grades 3-4, students played the “Eyeball in a Haystack” game and also created “Dia de los Muertos” masks. They learned about Halloween-related vocabulary and some background information on the Mexican “Day of the Dead.” In grades 5-6, students enjoyed the “Creepy Cards” Halloween-themed matching game and also played “Pumpkin Golf.” The older students enjoyed reading scary stories with their teachers in the dark! In Kang Chiao Future Skills, the students experimented with “Kang Chiao Freaky Stuff,” extending what they learned from the boats project to create liquid density stacks that they could take home.
Although the most popular activities such as the “Haunted House” had to be canceled this year, we must prioritize the safety of our students. Let’s continue to wash hands with soap, maintain social distance, and stay safe so we can enjoy many more Halloweens in the future!

Christmas Mania Month

English Teacher Florence Yeh

Time flies! We have almost reached the most wonderful time of the year – Christmas. For many, Christmas is a season of praise and a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. It is a time for family, food, and gift-giving. Nowadays, it is celebrated by people all over the world, whether they are Christians or not. This year, English Village held some fun events to celebrate Christmas
On every Friday of December! Students in all grades in Kang Chiao are encouraged to go to the English Village to attend a series of events provided by the English Village, including Christmas Decorations DIY, Movie Time with Santa, Snowman Toss, etc. It is a wonderful time for all the members of our school to gather together to have fun and to share in the festive spirit.

Christmas Carol Show

English Teacher Phoebe Chiang

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. In December, we can always hear Christmas melodies coming from every corner of our campus. It’s a month full of love, warmth, fun, and happiness. It’s also a time for our Chinese English teachers of grade 1 and 2 to bring their cute little ones to express Christmas spirit to everyone in the school. On December 23rd , our grade 2 students visited offices and classrooms with their handmade props and happy smiles. For our grade 1 students, this was their debut on Christmas carol shows. Some of them were shy, some were nervous, but most of them were excited. On December 24, these lovely first graders finished their performances with excellent singing and dynamic dancing movements. The audience was surprised and pleased to see those wonderful carol shows. Our grade 2 students were experienced performers since they already had the carol show experience last year. Therefore, they looked confident and joyful when they carried out the wonderful carol shows. The Christmas carol shows this year have once again brought joy, love, and warmth to everyone in the school. We believe that this year we should tell Santa Claus that your children did a great job. What do you think?
